What is Close up magic?
Don’t expect wiggling hips, dancing about pulling hankies from a bag!
It has many names - table magic, strolling magic, mix and mingle magic, sleight of hand magic, but these are all types of close up magic performed at your fingertips.
Modern sleight of hand close up magic is performed with everyday objects such as cards, coins etc. You will be amazed as your ring vanishes to reappear in a rose! Having an enormous impact because it is live and so close.

Do you belong to a Magic circle?Yes, I have been a member since 1982. I have won many Magic Circle Competitions for specialist close up magic, as well as being past president of Derby Magic Circle. |

Have I seen you before?
I hope so! This is one of the most common questions and of course, it is the highest complement when people want you and not just any magician.
What do I need to provide?
Just an audience! A few people gathered together will do. I am fully self contained, carrying all I need in my pockets. I don't even require a table, I can perform anywhere we can stand! So there's one less thing to worry about!
How far in advance should I book?
Its difficult to
say, but clearly popular days such as Saturdays in the Summer and
in December get booked up well in advance.

What if I have a lot of guests?
Close up magic is so strong because it is performed so close, at your fingertips, so in its very nature it is best appreciated by a small crowd at a time. As a general guide, one magician per 100 guests, but if your event is larger, I can supply other specialist close up magicians to help ensure your event is a success.
I live in the small town of Ashbourne, Derbys. the very centre of the country. So I am ideally suited to cover all of central England. Although I travel all over the UK, most of my work is predominately in the midlands between Birmingham and Manchester, particularly Derbyshire, Cheshire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, east & west midlands.
It is hard to make a general quote. But if you email me with details of where and when you event is, I will be pleased to give you an accurate quotation. Many items such as balloons, table decorations, etc, can help make an event expensive, but I promise you they will not have the same impact or be remembered as long after the event, as my sleight of hand close up magic..
Are there any extras such as VAT?
None at all. The fee is all inclusive of travel etc.
